Leadership skills need to be intentionally and explicitly developed.
This is especially critical from the perspective of rebuilding and redesigning inequitable systems – the people who should be sitting at that redesign table are those who are the most deeply impacted.
All Lead-To-Learn© learning experiences contain:
- 10-12 lessons including instructional material (eg PPTs, worksheets).
- teacher training and support using equity-based instructional practices.
- connection to a real world challenge as well as community organizations.
The following problem-based learning experiences are evidence of our students’ ability to solve our community’s most pressing challenges.

Hydroponic Garden Project
Students studied, designed and Built a hydroponic micro-farm on their school campus as a solution to the lack of local, affordable, and fresh produce.
Lead-based Paint Project
High school students studied the harmful impact of lead-based paint in their community and organized a fair where residents could apply for free funding to remediate their homes of lead-based paint.
